Chef Gennaro Avagnale Executive Chef at Keraton at The Plaza

Chef Gennaro started his career very early – when he was still 14 years old. In 2001 Chef Gennaro tasted his first experience in working for one of Starwood brand property, Hotel The Westin Excelsior in Florence, Italy and met Chef Andrea Accordi (two stars Michelin). This first step  helped him to expand his culinary knowledge and journey to 5 other Michelin star restaurants.

In 2005, Chef Gennaro headed for Trento where he learned the secret of high quality pastry as Chef Patisserie working side by side with Chef Alfredo Chiocchetti (one star Michelin). A year after to continue on understanding the secret of Italian classical fine dining high – level cuisine, Chef Gennaro went for another Starwood journey to Hotel Romazzino (Luxury Collection, Starwood Company) Porto Cervo, Sardegna, Italy.

Ten years apart, Chef Gennaro is now returning to a Starwood brand property Keraton at The Plaza, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Jakarta. He will be managing Bengawan Restaurant and Keraton Lounge that feature a world of unrivaled service and authentic five-star dining experience. Bengawan located on the seventh floor with spectacular views of Jakarta, the indoor and outdoor restaurant provides a respite from the bustling city below, wrapped in lush foliage and surrounded by soothing water features. Open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner, including an award winning Sunday Brunch.
