Suicide Bombers Attacked Turkey & the Upcoming Ied’l Fitri ‘Mudik’

Dear Jakartans!

The sacred holy month of Ramadan has been tainted in Turkey. At least 36 dead and dozens injured after three suicide bombers attacked Istanbul’s Ataturk international airport on Tuesday evening, Reuters reports. Turkey’s Prime Minister Binali Yildirim has said the so-called Islamic State was behind the attack. Istanbul has been on a high security alert for months after three deadly attacks in the city this year blamed on Islamic State jihadis and the Kurdistan Freedom Hawks (TAK). Our thoughts and prayer for anyone affected of this tragedy in the holy month of Ramadan, which shows that terrorism strikes with no regard for faith and values.

A week before Ied’l Fitri or Lebaran Day, flow of the ‘mudik’ or exodus starts to build up in several ports in Indonesia. It is predicted that the flow of home-bound travelers during the Ied’l Fitri festive period to the provinces, will peak on Saturday. To ease traffic congestion in the capital during the upcoming exodus, The Jakarta Transportation Agency will forbid the operation of trucks in the city five days prior to the Idul Fitri holiday, which will fall on July 6.  It also needs to be noted that heavy rains are still expected to hit several regions, such as Central Java which will affect the flow of travels.

Witness Captain Thomas Ziarno from New Zealand and Abdulrahman Mohamed Al Busaeedi dari Uni Emirat Arab give you a 360 tour of the cockpit of Emirates A380, the largest commercial airplane in the world.

In addition to the video tour, Emirates also accepted its 80th A380 airplane on 21st June 2016. Emirates will also open its daily A380 flight to Vienna on 1st July, which makes it the 41st A380 flight. Emirates is also waiting for 62 more A380 planes, 21 of which to be delivered this year.

Emirates is one of the airlines that has and operates world’s youngest fleet in the aviation industry, with airplanes averaging 5.6 years old. It currently employs more than 4,000 pilots from 100 countries to fly its 250 planes, covering 155 destinations in 81 countries.

At the same time, DKI Jakarta is also celebrates its 489th anniversary. To commemorate the day, we also served a little Betawi atmosphere in the decoration and cuisines, there were Kerak Telor, Gabus Pucung, Selendang Mayang and many more in the corner of Lagoon Garden.

The Sultan Hotel & Residence Jakarta used “Green Light Ramadhan” as the theme and collaborated with Martha Tilaar to add more festive in this outdoor event. Various of sessions have been prepared to welcome an Iftar. Martha Tilaar held a beauty class to anyone who wanted to know how to take care skin health during fasting period. Other than that, The Sultan Hotel & Residence Jakarta also held a painting and drawing class to The Orphans from Yayasan Putra Nusa to develop their art knowledge. After these two classes have done, we continued to shared the donations to 50 orphans from Yayasan Putra Nusa by The Management of The Sultan Hotel & Residence Jakarta.

Furthermore, the event becomes warmer with the presence of public figures ‘Lala Karmela’ and Martha Tilaar in talkshow session and continued with a spiritual cleansing ‘Tauziah’ by Ustadz H. Sukeri Abdillah MBA while waiting for fast-breaking. This event was more enlivened when ‘adzan Maghrib’ reverb. By the time of breakfasting, everyone enjoyed the Ta’jil delicacies and continued with praying together (Sholat Maghrib). JAKARTA, INDONESIA (June 2016)- Grand Hyatt Jakarta has been officially certified as an ISO 22000:2005 Hotel from SGS Indonesia in regard to the preparation and serving of hot food, cold food, pastry and bakery, bar, ready to eat include room service and take away products.

The ISO 22000 is an International food safety programme that ensures the highest standards of food safety and hygiene in commercial operations. The standard also includes HACCP principles which are stated in a more organized manner. HACCP stands for Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point which is a preventive approach to food safety management and is designed to control significant food safety hazards, that are likely to cause an adverse health effect when products are consumed. Jakarta to Face ‘Odd-Even’ License Policy, Floods & Landslides across Central Java

High intensity rain in southern Central Java on Saturday caused floods and landslides across several areas. The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) records that flooding and landslides have occurred in at least 16 towns and cities across the province, killing at least 35 people and 25 people remain missing. June is usually relatively dry in the region, but the National Climatology, Meteorology and Geophysics Agency has issued a warning for potential rain for late June and early July in five provinces. High tides and waves are also predicted for the southern coast of Sumatra, Java and East Nusa Tenggara.

The much talked about new Soekarno Hatta Terminal extension is apparently still far from operating any time soon. Previously reported to be ready by Idul Fitri (first week of July), the opening of the new terminal has been delayed for at least two weeks after the authorities deemed the facility unfit to welcome its first travellers, media reports said. A first phase opening of the new “Terminal 3 Ultimate” had been scheduled for Monday, initially serving passengers on domestic and international flights by national carrier Garuda Indonesia, but Transportation Ministry officials decided it would be too risky. This time, we have to applaud the Ministry of Transportation to not rush into things.

This July, the Jakarta administration will start implementing an odd-even license plate policy as a temporary solution to ease traffic congestion in the capital. The trial will be held from July 20 to Aug. 20, while the official implementation is going to be on August 23 until electronic road pricing [ERP] is introduced by the end of 2017.Consumer groups have addressed critics over the policy, as weak monitoring could encourage bribing of police officers and even give rise to a rogue business of falsifying license plate numbers, The Jakarta Post reports.
