Starting on June 1st, Busway-Integrated Intercity Transport (APTB) feeder buses will no longer be allowed on TransJakarta-dedicated lanes to serve commuters from the capital’s fringe cities, Jakarta Globe reports. Around 600 new TransJakarta buses are now available on 21 new routes that will eventually connect the capital with all of the Greater-Jakarta areas—including Bogor in West Java and Tangerang in Banten. The APTB busses will still be available and the buses will run on regular lanes along with private cars and regular buses.
President Joko Widodo plans to make June 1st as national holiday tocommemorate the birth of Pancasila (Indonesia’s philosophical foundation of the Indonesian state). Despite widely known as the date that Indonesia’s founding father Soekarno first announced ‘Pancasila’, the date has never been officially acknowledged by the government as Pancasila’s day and during the New Order regime was even considered forbidden to commemorate the day.
Beer drinkers rejoice! Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama has confirmed that Jakarta has returned to the 2007 regulation on the sales of alcoholic beverages, meaning that mini markets can legally start selling beer again, with the conditions that the sale of beer to anybody under 18 had to be strictly controlled.
