Summer Heat

Hello Jakartans!

If you, like us, a bunch of freaks with love for the colder weather, then perhaps everything has not worked out well for you. Much like us here at whatsnewjakarta, we struggle with the so-called Indonesian ‘summer’ weather, and we opt to spend it in Bali, check out our sister company for more information on what’s cool and what’s not in Bali.

But for those of you struggling to find ground amidst the heat and the traffic, then we have a couple of suggestions for you (some cocktails should be nice, wouldn’t you agree?) Try out dining at Henshin at The Westin Jakarta or prepare yourself for the barrage of summer music festivals in Bali like Pacha and Sunny Side Up (both of which happening this week, check out whatsnewbali.com for more on this).

Did you hear about this one-stand up comedian who took up the fight of complaining his apartment developer on his own personal blog and got called by the police, because apparently you’re not suppose to complain about a brand on the internet and it can be considered as defamation (we really think this is super silly, but there you go).

Have you tried the new Semanggi overpass this week? The road is open for trial until 10 August 2017, and will be innagurated by President Joko Widodo to celebrate Indonesia Independence Day on 17 August 2017. We hope the new construction will help to untie the traffic around Semanggi and Gatot Subroto area.

Touching on the subject, don’t forget to get the red-white flag ready at your home. Celebrating Indonesia Independence Day can be fun and memorable. There will be a lot of games and parades around your neighborhood for you to join and see. It is also a great opportunity to explore authentic Indonesia cuisines at restaurants around Jakarta.
