Fairmont Jakarta Brings The London Experience to The City

For a limited time, Fairmont Jakarta is holding a series of events to bring the excitement of British cuisine and lifestyle to the city, from 24 to 27 August 2017. Titled “When Jakarta Meets London – Bringing The Heritage of The Savoy to the City”, the events will showcase the expertise of guest chefs and mixologist who will be flown in from London to Jakarta.

The hotel’s 267 luxury rooms and suites afford breath-taking views across the River Thames, and of iconic London landmarks. Fine dining has always been an integral part of The Savoy, including Gordon Ramsay’s Savoy Grill that presents a British Grill menu with a French touch. For cocktail connoisseurs, The Savoy boasts the award-winning Beaufort Bar, renowned for pushing the boundaries of mixology; and the legendary American Bar, the oldest surviving cocktail bar in London.

‘When Jakarta Meets London’ will feature five key events, from afternoon tea in Peacock Lounge, party in K22 Bar, bar takeover in Barong Bar, gastronomic experience in VIEW Restaurant & Bar, and Sunday brunch in Spectrum.

As a start of the event, Fairmont Jakarta kicks off with a traditional British afternoon tea serving at Peacock Lounge, using the recipes from the famous Thames Foyer at The Savoy. The Thames Foyer is very much the heart of The Savoy. A stunning glass dome floods this sociable spot with wonderful natural light, as the guests enjoy their world-famous afternoon tea.

Afternoon Tea at The Savoy is an enduring custom where guests can choose from a range of teas served with Finger Sandwiches, Homemade Scones with Clotted Cream & Jam and a mouth-watering selection of seasonal cakes and pastries like the Battenberg Cake and Strawberry Victoria Sponge.

The British recipe of afternoon tea will be prepared by Pastry Chef Luc Bigeard from The Savoy. On this occasion, guests will have a chance to savor the world-famous afternoon tea in the chic and elegant setting of Peacock Lounge. The British Afternoon Tea is available from 24 August to 6 September 2017, from 1 to 5 p.m. at IDR588,000++/set. Special chefs-parade to launch the British Afternoon Tea will be on 24 August at 3 p.m.

Beaufort Bar - Savoy London

Thursday night at K22 Bar is renowned for its Ladies Night. At this special event, Fairmont Jakarta will throw a James Bond-themed party in the search of the best-dressed Bond Girl who will win a grand prize from The Savoy, London.

Guests will be entertained by a live singer who will be performing iconic James Bond movie songs, as well as DJ, while enjoying the free-flow cocktails, specially created by The Savoy’s award-winning mixologist, Witek Wojaczek, from the legendary Beaufort Bar at the Savoy. The Bond Girl Night will be held on the evening of 24 August 2017, starting from 7 p.m. at IDR 288,000++/ person.

The Savoy’s bar has been nominated as the World’s Best Hotel Bar, and Barong Bar brings the
mixologist, Witek Wojaczek – who is also the UK winner at the Toast of Paris Cocktail Competition in 2016 – to take over the bar on 25 August 2017. He will present the Savoy’s classic cocktails like Hanky Panky and Moonwalk, as well as Beaufort Bar’s signature cocktail stories.

During the Bar Takeover at Barong Bar, aside from enjoying the free-flow signature cocktails of Beaufort Bar, guests will be pampered with red carpet treatment, jazz singer performance and the excitement of having cigar rollers. The lucky winner of the night will enjoy the prize of a weekend ride on a Jaguar including the chauffeur.

Free-flow cocktails at Barong Bar will be available on 25 August 2017 from 8 to 11 p.m., at IDR788,000++/ person. On 26 & 27 August 2017, VIEW Restaurant & Bar will present an Exquisite British Gourmet Dinner, featuring the Executive Sous Chef from The Savoy, Francisco Hernandez, who specializes in modern British-European cuisine. At this occasion, Chef Francisco will collaborate with VIEW’s own Chef de Cuisine, Hans Christian, who is passionate in conveying a progressive take on food that he grew up with by merging European technique, and modern presentation.

The 5-course wine pairing dinner will also mark the presence of the British Ambassador to Indonesia, Mr. Moazzam Malik on 26 August 2017. Available at IDR 1,788,000++/ person. Jakarta residents are always eager to find something new and unique for Sunday Brunch. On 27 August 2017, Fairmont Jakarta brings the excitement and the glory of the Great Britain to Spectrum’sRoyal Sunday Brunch.

Fairmont Jakarta culinary team, led by Executive Chef Edi Pancamala, will collaborate with Chef Francisco and Chef Luc from The Savoy in preparing an extensive spread of British buffet brunch. The special British menu will include mouth-watering dishes such as Hot Smoked Trout with Horseradish, Poached Scottish Lobster, “The Savoy” Prawn and Brown Shrimp Cocktail, Roasted Beef or Lamb with Traditional Yorkshire Pudding, various selections of Fish and Chips, and Buttermilk Pancakes.

The menu highlight will also include the famous Arnold Bennett Omelette. Arnold Bennett Omelette was created at the Savoy hotel in the 1920s and named after the writer and critic Arnold Bennett. The chefs perfected it to his taste while he was staying at the hotel, writing a novel. This omelette traditional consists as an open omelette with bitten eggs, smoked haddock, gruyere cheese and hollandaise sauce.
