Sustainability: Fairmont Jakarta Collaborates With Yayasan Emmanuel Food Rescue Program

JAKARTA, 2 February 2016 – As part of its sustainable and social efforts, Fairmont Jakarta kicks off its collaboration with the Yayasan Emmanuel Food Rescue Program by conducting its first food pick-up today at the Hotel.

Represented by the Hotel General Manager, Carlos Monterde, along with the Sustainability Committee, the Hotel has managed to collect a total of 17.5 kilograms of food during the first pick-up to be donated to the neediest communities through the foundation. Both Fairmont Jakarta and Yayasan Emmanuel have committed to do the food pick-up on a regular basis.

“Supporting sustainable environment and society for a better living has always been our commitment as an individual property and as part of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. My team members at Fairmont Jakarta and myself are all very happy to be able to collaborate with Yayasan Emmanuel and participate in the Food Rescue Program. It’s very humbling to know that a small act from us could reach out and help many others in needs. We hope we could continue supporting such great initiatives in the long run,” says Carlos Monterde, general maFairmont Jakarta_Yayasan Emmanuel_CSRnager of Fairmont Jakarta.

The Yayasan Emmanuel Food Rescue Program works with various hotels in Jakarta to secure prepared and perishable food to be distributed to the hungry and neediest communities. With the help of partners from hotels and restaurants like Fairmont Jakarta, everything is provided for free of charge to hundreds of children, mothers and the elderly each day, with an average of 2.8 tons of food being delivered to diverse communities.

Prioritizing food safety in all of its operations, the Yayasan Emmanuel Food Rescue Program and Fairmont Jakarta are committed to helping provide food and healthier diet to the hungry and malnourished communities in the slum, poverty-stricken and scavenger trash-site areas and around Jakarta.
