10 Fun Things to Do in Jakarta

Welcome to Jakarta, one of the most underrated cities in the world!

The ultimate attraction of Jakarta is that it is still very safe and a metropolis that fits literally every budget. As Indonesia’s main government and business hub, Jakarta is rarely viewed as a tourist destination, although with its historical sites and authentic cultural heritage, there are actually a lot to explore.

1. Escape to the ‘Thousand Islands’

Jakartans sometimes forgot that under the Jakarta Special Region actually has beautiful islands under the jurisdiction, you can still find white sandy beaches and beautiful underwater habitat suitable for snorkeling and maybe even diving. The key to finding a good place to enjoy Pulau Seribu is: the farther, the better. Don’t even bother stopping over to the overly visited Pramuka or Tidung, but opt for Pulau Macan or Pulau Harapan, which would take a little longer to get, but will have better beach and underwater view.

2. Enjoy Jakarta’s theme parks

Take your whole family to a fun-filled day long excursions to one of the theme parks in Jakarta and its surrounding area. On the north, we have Ancol recreation center with its Dunia Fantasi,  hotels, food centers by the sea, watersports activities and a whole lot of other fun things to do. In East Jakarta, we have the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah or Mini Indonesia, where you can see replicas of the many Indonesian traditional houses in a day. Click here for other fun parks!
