Scusa Repacks Authentic Italian Cuisine with a Modern Twist

Scusa, has long been the place to experience true fine dining italian cuisine, long before the other Italian restaurants pop up all over town. Strategically located on the second floor of InterContinental Jakarta MidPlaza, Scusa prides itself on recreating the true flavours of Italy. It has satisfied guests for many years and continues to do so under the expert guidance of their newest Executive Chef, Gianluca Visciglia from Milan who joined the hotel earlier this year who went straight to work his way around the kitchen to revitalize the award winning establishment.

For the new menu, Chef Gianluca explores the humble roots of regional Italian cooking by redefining a number of classic dishes and making them more relevant. He has been careful to preserve authenticity through the use of quality ingredients and seasonal delicacies that represent the very best products from the land and sea.

A typical evening at Scusa starts with cocktails and canapés to entice the palate as a prelude to the full range of culinary delights available. There are a number of highlights on the new menu such as Vitello Tonnato, a Piedmontese dish of cold, sliced veal covered with a creamy, mayonnaise-like sauce that has been flavoured with tuna and is served chilled. Another standout is Ravioli with Braised Beef, freshly made pasta parcels filled with tender beef served with pumpkin and parmesan sauce, and truffle cream. These particular dishes all others featured on the menu will transport guests to Italy where good food means absolutely everything. Chef Gianluca’s passion and respect for ingredients is evident as he has the uncanny ability to transfer happiness to people with his cuisine.

“I first fell in love with food at the tender age of six as I watched my father cook for the family every Sunday. I went on to make a career out of cooking and was fortunate to gain valuable experience while working in Florence and Tuscany. My personal knowledge about Italian cuisine is expected to bring more authentic flavours to Scusa and reposition it as a leading restaurant in Jakarta, says Chef Gianluca.

Choosing to return to the roots of classic Italian food, Chef Gianluca is now placing greater emphasis on home-made sauces, pasta and bread prepared daily from scratch. He likes nothing more than spending time in the kitchen perfecting new dishes to look just as good as they taste. This revived “Wine & Dine at Scusa” concept and a la carte menu promises to appeal to a wider audience of hotel guests and Jakarta food lovers alike. It is now available for lunch and dinner. Table reservations are recommended to avoid disappointment.
