The Macallan Presents New Limited edition expression ‘Edition No. 1′

Unveiling its finest yet, The Macallan presents the new limited edition expression Edition No. 1 drawn from eight European and American oak cask styles selected by our Master Whisky Maker to launch this April 2016 in Indonesia. In the launching held by Edrington (owning group) with brand advocate Randall Tan,The Macallan also appointed 20 hosts that represent a mixture of Indonesia’s lifestyle crowd from entrepreneurs, celebrities, socialities, artists, chefs and musicians.

With only 1000 bottles exclusively available nationwide, The Macallan defines their unique art of whisky making through an unusual spectrum of selected casks for Edition No.1 by the master himself. From the provenance of the oak to the expert crafting of the cask, the seasoning and the size, these intricate components play an immense role that ultimately shape the final whisky.

Bob Dalgarno, The Macallan’s Master Whisky Maker, said, “Around 80% of the character of The Macallan is derived from the oak cask in which it ages. Each individual cask and cask style imparts a specific influence on the whisky, each bringing a different and distinctive character. So the idea was to explore more intricately how each cask style could influence the whisky and yet work well together in harmony.

Bottled at a higher strength of 48%, Edition No.1 exudes a fuller, richer flavour with a natural colour of honey, empowering a nose lead of orange, dried fruit and apple, sitting within a unique Macallan orchard, filled with vibrancy and richness to it. Humbly smoothed by flavourful vanilla, toffee and chocolate, whisky lovers can lavish its taste of nettles under an oak canopy. The palate is warming, as wood spices meander unveiling nutmeg, cinnamon, and hints of dried ginger and toffee.

The Macallan Edition No. 1 presence a soft and lingering finish with a fresh fruitful appearance balanced with new oak. Dedicated The Macallan Master of Wood, Stuart Macpherson, carefully oversees the intricate sourcing, seasoning and production process from Spain.
