Frozen shoulder is a painful and disabling condition in which inflammation of the shoulder capsule, connective tissues surrounding the glenohumeral joint of the shoulder; can lead to stiffness, restricted motion and chronic pain.

Frozen shoulder is quite interesting and unique. The articular surfaces of your shoulder joint may be normal yet, motion is limited due to contracture of surrounding tissues around the joint. This causes limitations with movement. With shoulder arthritis, damage to the joint surface is observable.

Pain is usually constant. Worse at night and more noticeable with colder environments. Certain movements or bumps can aggravate your shoulder leading to episodes of tremendous pain and cramping. It is commonly believed to be a condition caused by injury or trauma to the area. This is not always the case. Careful clinical diagnosis and management is recommended. Patients usually recover symptomatically, however they may never regain their full range of movement.

This condition can cause difficulties with daily activities as such as combing your hair, putting on your clothes or even reaching for an item can spark apprehension for fear of sudden pain.

How should I treat it? frozenshoulder2_
