The forest fire in Sumatra and Kalimantan has increased the level of pollution in densely populated areas including Banjarmasin, Pontianak, and some other areas in the region, putting the health of local residents at risk and disrupting activities in a number of airports on the two major islands. Last Sunday, the management of Sultan Syarif Kasim International (SSK) II Airport in Pekanbaru reported that there was no flight activity taking place at the airport, as the haze that blanketed the Riau provincial capital decreased visibility to only 300 meters.
This week Indonesia was surprised apparent blunder that Indonesia’s House of Representative members made while visiting USA. This visit has become quite an intense social media furor in the past couple of days. Setya Novanto, speaker of the house and Fadli Zon, the vice chairman of the House was seen attending the Donald Trump press conference, September 3rd, in New York City. Although both claimed that the visit and the ‘selfies’ that they made were just a cordial gesture, many sees this move as a brazen and unethical move by both Novanto and Zon as visiting a presidential candidate in a formal state visit could indicate political alignment.
The long awaited legend finally comes, as the legendary Bon Jovi will rock Jakarta this Friday at Gelora Bung Karno Jakarta. This concert will be the ‘Living on a Prayer’ hit maker’s second concert in Jakarta after their first concert almost exactly 20 years ago in 1995, in Ancol, Jakarta.
