Jakarta, 18 July 2016 – To kick off this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival celebration, Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta today auctioned off the 24-carat Golden Moon Cake at Shang Palace.
In an exclusive evening of charity auction, Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta presented the meticulously crafted 24-carat Golden Moon Cake. The bidding price started at Rp100,000,000 and the proceeds will be donated to the hotel’s charitable orphanage partner. In Chinese culture, it is tradition for family members and friends to gather during the Mid-Autumn Festival and savour the signature delicacy – moon cakes.
To kick-off this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival celebration, the 24-carat golden moon cake was auctioned on 18 July 2016 at Shang Palace. The auction event was held in conjunction with Shang Palace’s closing ceremony, as the restaurant will undergo significant refurbishments and later reopen with a new, refreshed look and concept.
The lavish set includes a 24-carat Golden Moon Cake made with premium lotus paste and covered with layers of 24-carat gold leaves,. The set will include TWG Gold Tea, a gold teapot and Cristal Champagne in opulent packaging. To complete the luxurious experience, the hotel’s chauffeured butler will deliver the Golden Moon Cake in a limousine to the guest’s doorstep.
The 24-carat Golden Moon Cake will be displayed exclusively during the auction, where Shang Palace loyal guests and selected business partners have been invited to join the auction and bid for the limited-edition moon cake.
