Indonesian Police Killed Most Wanted Militant & Other Updates

Dear Jakartans!

The country’s most wanted man Santoso aka Abu Wardah, an Islamic State supporter, may have been one of two militants killed in a gunbattle with security forces in eastern Indonesia on Tuesday, the government said on Monday (18/07). If confirmed, the death of Santoso, would be a victory for President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, who made capturing him a top security priority. National Police chief Gen. Tito Karnavian said he is “95 percent sure” that Santoso was one of the two killed, he told reporters at the State Palace, The Jakarta Globe reports.

Head of the Jakarta Land Transportation Organization (Organda DKI)Shafruhan Sinungan said that next year, it is targeted that all Jabodetabek’s public transportation will all be air conditioned. This includes micro buses (mikrolet, kopaja, metromini) and all other public transports. Not only the facility, we surely hope that this calls for stricter control for the drivers and the assistants too!

The Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics predicts that Jakarta will still have showers of rain during the day to afternoon for the rest of the week. Due to La Nina, the start of the dry season will be delayed for one or two months. At the moment, the dry season has arrived in only 50 percent of Indonesia’s regions.
