Hilton Worldwide’s Soap Recycling Program Doubles Its Presence in Asia Pasific

Hilton Worldwide has extended its global soap recycling initiative to 60 hotels in 12 countries in the Asia Pacific region. This is double the number of hotels and countries compared to a year ago, and more than a third of Hilton’s owned and managed hotels. In partnership with organizations such as Soap Cycling, Sealed Air, Soap Aid and Clean the World, Hilton’s Asia Pacific properties have recovered and donated more than 16 tons of soap which in turn created over 340,000 bars of new soap, to underprivileged communities in Asia.

Logistics partners that Hilton Worldwide works with, such as JTB Trading (Japan), DHL Korea (Seoul), DHL Global Forwarding Asia Pacific (Singapore), Guest Supply (South China) and Bunzl (Australia), also help make the program sustainable by transporting the donated soap to soap recycling facilities.

In collaboration with Sealed Air, DoubleTree by Hilton Jakarta – Diponegoro will extend this sustainability program to our school partner, SDN Pegangsaan 01, and involve its students in the soap recycling activity under the Soap for Hope program. This initiative will not only provide new bars of soap to local communities in need, but also serves to build awareness among young people about the importance of sustainability.

The program supports Hilton’s commitment to diverting waste from landfills through reuse, recycling and donations via its global RePurpose program, and aligns with its global corporate responsibility strategy, Travel with Purpose.

Today, more than 700 Hilton Worldwide properties donate soap and collectively, they have diverted close to 270 tons of used soap waste (and counting) from landfills, and created more than one million new bars of soap for underprivileged communities.
