Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama will install a European Standard PollutionTechnology to support Jakarta’s upcoming mass transport development. So far 6 pollution monitors have been installed in several locations. This monitor does not only monitor air, but also ground, water, and noise pollution. Basuki argues that if Jakarta wants to be a world class city, it must adapt technologies that many of the developed cities use.
President Jokowi recently signed a Government Regulation (PP No. 103 Year 2015) that allows foreigners to own houses for 30 years, with possible extension of another 50. Previously, foreigners were only allowed for 25 years, with possible extension of another 25. To be eligible, the foreigner has to live, work, or invest in Indonesia, and “provide benefit” to the country. This decision was part of Jokowi’s effort to show a friendlier face to foreigners who might come and bring investment to Indonesia.
