JAKARTA, INDONESIA (June 2016)- Grand Hyatt Jakarta has been officially certified as an ISO 22000:2005 Hotel from SGS Indonesia in regard to the preparation and serving of hot food, cold food, pastry and bakery, bar, ready to eat include room service and take away products.

The ISO 22000 is an International food safety programme that ensures the highest standards of food safety and hygiene in commercial operations. The standard also includes HACCP principles which are stated in a more organized manner. HACCP stands for Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point which is a preventive approach to food safety management and is designed to control significant food safety hazards, that are likely to cause an adverse health effect when products are consumed. HACCP’s seven principles guide the programme, which aims to put the necessary processes and training in place, while also managing risk from ‘farm to fork’, ensuring that vendor supply chains meet equal criteria.

The ISO 22000:2005 certification requires a thorough system audit once a year along with a renewal of the certification every three years. The hotel has formed a Food Safety Management System (FSMS) team which is consisted of more than 15 representative associates from different areas of the food & beverage operation to meet regularly and discuss questions, case studies, challenges as well as recent food sample results. Becoming certified to ISO 22000:2005 can therefore be seen as an official recognition of the excellent service the hotel provides, ensuring both the quality and safety of the food served.
