Welcoming Bernhard Kammerlohr, The New GM of Grandkemang Jakarta

Mr. Bernhardgrandkemang Jakarta is thrilled to announce the new member of the Executive Community, Mr. Bernhard Kammerlohr who has recently joined the property as the General Manager. Mr. Kammerlohr has been exploring the flavors of the hospitality world for more than 29 years. He has spent most of his career at Marbella Group. Before his official arrival at grandkemang, he was the GM at Grand Sahid Jaya Jakarta.

He started his career at the well-known Steigenberger Hotel School in Bad Reichenhall and after one year, he obtained the highly accredited diploma. Due to his excellent school results at the Hotel School, Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts (the largest German hotel chain) offered him an apprenticeship at their leading resort hotel in Bad Griesbach and after only two and a half years finished the examination taken by the chamber of commerce with “magna cum laude” and as the best in his year in the State of Lower Bavaria.

After the compulsory military service, he was offered Hotel Management training at the Munich Park Hilton and two years later went to the famous Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. Three months into the course at Cornell, the Sheraton Hotel & Towers in Buenos Aires, Argentina offered him a job as Assistant Director of Food & Beverage, and he joined the largest Hotel in Argentina in 1992. Thereafter, followed several F&B management positions first in Saudi Arabia for the Al Khozama Hotel (owned by the King Faisal Foundation), then the Meliá Purosani Hotel in Yogyakarta.

In 1997, Mr. Kammerlohr joined the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza Bangkok in Thailand as Director of Food & Beverage, a huge hotel with 726 rooms and a myriad of F & B outlets and in 1999 he was appointed Resident Manager in charge of F&B at the Meliá Hanoi in Vietnam. In 2002, Mr. Kammerlohr joined the Gran Meliá Jakarta, Sol Meliá’s flagship hotel in Asia, again in the position as Resident Manager in charge of F&B.

In 2003 he was appointed GM at the Sol Elite Marbella Hotel in Anyer. In 2009 the management contract with Sol Melia ended and he was appointed as VP Operations by the Owner to overlook all Marbella properties in Indonesia.
