The Sultan Hotel & Residence Jakarta proudly presents “East Java Food & Cultural Festival” for the whole month of October at Lagoon Cafe. The opening ceremony of the festival was held on Thursday, 1 October 2015 by Mr. I Nyoman Sarya, General Manager of The Sultan Hotel & Residence Jakarta. Series of event began with East Java traditional dance performance and Cooking Demo by Executive Chef Agus Sugiyanto.
East Java traditional dances that performed during the opening ceremony are Gambyong Pareanom Dance, Ngapote Dance and Lenggang Surabaya Dance. Gambyong Pareanom Dance is the welcoming dance during state ceremony, Ngapote Dance which has meaning about fisherman in East Java, also Lenggang Surabaya Dance which represents Surabaya as a city with kind people and really memorable.
Cooking Demo by Executive Chef Agus Sugiyanto also very attractive in presenting special dish from East Java; i.e Tahu Tek – mixed of tofu and rice cake dressed in peanut sauce and candlenut also Wedang Cor – warm beverage with main ingredients fermented cassava cake mixed with ginger, pandan, lemon grass and condensed milk; made this event more merrier. Ambassadors, Top Clients and Fellow Media also attended this opening ceremony and were enjoying various kinds of East Java culinary from Lontong Balap, Tahu Campur, Rujak Serut to Bandeng Presto, and many more.
East Java Food & Cultural Festival cuisines are available at Lagoon Cafe from October 1st to 31st, 2015. We are ready to fit up our culinary team who will be coming right away from Singgasana Hotel Surabaya, our sister company in Surabaya which is under the same group, Singgasana Group.
The most legend and knownly dishes from Jawa Timur is Rujak Cingur, Rawon, Soto Lamongan and Pecel. Rujak Cingur – is kind of traditional salad that consist of numbers of vegetables and fruits, rice cake, tofu, soy bean cake and cingur. Cingur is part of the cow, which taken from the mouth. It has chewy texture yet savory at taste. Those ingredients are mixed well with shrimp paste sauce. Rawon – is a strong rich tasting traditional Indonesian beef black soup. It uses black nuts/keluak as the main spice which gives the strong nutty flavor and dark color to the soup. The soup is made of ground mixture of garlic, shallot, keluak, ginger, candlenut, turmeric, red chili and salt sauteed with oil until it gets aromatic. Soto Lamongan – savory taste and fresh, with typical clear broth and sliced chicken. It comprises several ingredients; coriander, caraway seed, lemon grass, onion, garlic, ginger, galangale, pepper, salt, candle nut and fried onion. Pecel – A salad of boiled vegetables, dressed in a peanut-based spicy sauce. It is usually served with dried fish/shrimp cracker (rempeyek) on the side, and many typical food of East Java you can taste every day while enjoying traditional East Java music at Lagoon Cafe with only 325.000,- net per person, including regular hot tea or coffee.
