Hello Jakartans!
Living in the city has been really chaotic really, with so many projects currently under construction, from the Mampang underpass, MRT throughout Sudirman, pedestrian access at Jatinegara Barat, Matraman Raya underpass and LRT stations among many others, Jakarta gridlock has lately been proven more erratic.
The police are opening new lanes to ease the tensions on area surrounded by heavy constructions, but oftentimes it really doesn’t do anything to the already mounting problems of traffic jams every time it hits the afternoon or bright and early while people commute to their places of work. Transjakarta busway company have taken measures by creating additional terminal and stations for buses without being disturbed by the on-going progress that are currently gripping the city. While we recommend you to leave your vehicles at home and hit the bus, we understand that Jakarta is also improving herself in terms of facilities and services to its citizens.
But what about the entertainment and hospitality industry? Lately there are slews of new restaurants and bars popping up around town from the super-luxurious Henshin perched atop The Westin Jakarta and more neighbourhood bars opening, Jakarta is slowly becoming home to the urban cultural progress as we call it. Not only shows and music performances, but the art community is showing its teeth, with the (soon-to-open) Macan Contemporary Arts Museum, Indonesia will soon be the leader in South-East Asia when it comes to good cultural performances. We are still waiting on the news for that Andrew-Lloyd Webber’s opera performances that promises to bring brilliant titles such as Cats and Phantom of the Opera to our shores, but apparently that will have to be put on hold, as a lot of things, much like the face of Jakarta…is still under construction.
