Fairmont Jakarta Launches Its First Women Leaders Forum

As part of AccorHotels that is committed to changing mentalities in the hospitality sector to promote women’s empowerment, Fairmont Jakarta recently launched its first Women Leaders Forum recently in end of June 2017.

The forum brings two key speakers to share their experience and inspire female employees at Fairmont Jakarta to be women leaders. They are Lisa Sanjoyo (General Manager of Mercure Hotel, Cikini) and Angkie Yudistia (CEO of Thisable Enterprise).

Angkie Yudistia suffered from deaf since the age of 10. Through her commitment to overcome her disability, she established the Thisable Enterprise as a platform to empower people with disabilities and help them grow and find job opportunities.

Lisa Sanjoyo is the current General Manager of Mercure Hotel, Cikini. She is also a former champion of WAAG (Women At AccorHotels Generation) – AccorHotels’ internal gender diversity network.

Fairmont Jakarta will host the Women Leaders Forum on regular basis by bringing in different key speakers to keep inspiring its female employees to achieve success and never hesitant to strive to become leaders in the industry.

“This event is part of Fairmont Jakarta’s participation to support the Group’s commitment to gender parity, to changing mentalities in the hospitality sector to promote women’s empowerment,” explains Carlos Monterde, General Manager of Fairmont Jakarta.

AccorHotels offers various platforms for women to put themselves forward and achieve their leadership ambitions. The Group is one of just ten companies selected by UN Women as one of the champion corporations of the HeForShe movement.

AccorHotels supports HeForShe because we believe that both women and men are critical to achieving gender equality and promoting women’s empowerment. One of the main commitments is to grow the ratio of women General Managers to 35% by end-2017.

HeForShe is an international solidarity movement for gender equality initiated by UN Women. Its objective is to ensure that men also take a stand for gender equality. By creating IMPACT 10x10x10 in 2015, UN Women is expanding this solidarity movement and has identified 10 corporations, 10 universities and 10 governments to be its spokespersons. Barclays, Koç Holding, McKinsey & Company, PwC, Schneider Electric, Tupperware, Twitter, Unilever, Vodafone are the nine other companies that are part of the IMPACT 10x10x10 pilot program, alongside AccorHotels.
