After a long walk around the Bogor Botanical Garden, this cafe located in the legendary garden is a must visit, even just for a cup of coffee. It is located in the complex’s most prominent open space, surrounded by massive trees that will give you a sense of peace and relaxation. This particular spot is also where Jokowi hosted US President Barack Obama for a casual afternoon ‘bakso’ and tea snack in his recent visit to Bogor.

Cheeky, fun and urban-inspired. YELO takes inspiration from the bold mash up of colour and pattern of the pop art world. 6. Suryakancana Street
If Jakarta has Glodok and Mangga Besar, Bogor has Suryakancana street as its designated ‘chinatown’. Although not as expansive as Jakarta’s kota area, as Suryakancana is just one strip of road, it is where you can find a lot of good food crammed into one area. It is not insanely crowded and overwhelming too, which is a big plus.
We like to hop from Soto Kuning Pak Yusuf, Toge Goreng, to Nasi Goreng Guang Tjo, cool of at the nostalgic Kentjana restaurant, and then fill up with sweets and snacks from food carts dotting the street. For pork-hunters you can’t mss Soto Mie Agih for unique pork-based soto mie, Ngo Hiang Khas Bogor, and a couple side of street Sate Babi.

9. Kedai Kita
A place that’s popular for their freshly made wood fire oven pizza (and no, it’s not one of those wonton-thin pastry they call pizza around here, type!), pasta and also homemade bakmi, the most popular being those served on hotplates. It is an odd mix, but somehow it works! There is usually always a queue and the place is not that big, but usually the service it’s quite fast, so it is worth the little bit of wait.

10. De Leuit ‘Nasi Jambal’
If you want to make your visit to Bogor truly an authentic Sundanese experience, De Leuit should be the stop. 12. Ah Poong
Pasar Ah Poong (a play on words of ‘Pasar Apung’ or floating market), where you can find a riverside food court selling many different food options. This food court is run by Eat n Eat group, which is famous for scouting the best of authentic Indonesian food. 13. Rumah Air
A saung (simple bamboo house sustained over water) style restaurant in Bogor, serving Indonesian and Sundanese food, including fresh water fish, and lots of vegetable options. In the lake, you can also do all sorts of activity like water cycling and fishing, which fish you catch can be cooked on site or take home with. Rumah Air also rents out other activities such as ATV, becak riding, and flying fox in the area.
