Just in time to mark the Indonesia’s 71st anniversary of independence, Marriott International proudly presents the first ever Indonesia Culinary Journey – Flavors of the Archipelago. From 15 August – 6 September 2016. The roadshow was launched at JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta on Monday, August 15, by the Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya, along with the General Manager of JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta, Karan Berry and Vice President Corporate Communications of Citilink Indonesia, Benny S. Butarbutar.
In his speech, Arief Yahya expressed his appreciation of JW Marriott’s support to Indonesia’s culinary traditions by promoting it on all of its properties in Indonesia. The event begins with singing the national anthem Indonesia Raya and continued with traditional West Sulawesi dance performance, tari Patuddu by Dinas Pemuda Olahraga dan Pariwisata Provinsi Sulawesi Barat. The ceremony marks the beginning of Indonesia Culinary Journey – Flavors of Archipelago, where the seven winning chefs will serve their dishes at JW Marriott’s Sailendra Restaurant from 15-17 August 2016.
“As one of the biggest international hotel chain in Indonesia and with such numbers of hotels across the country, we would like to dedicate an event to celebrate the Indonesia 71st Independence Day. An event to promote Indonesia through its rich culinary highlighting the local talents Marriott hotels has in Indonesia” said Karan Berry, General Manager of JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta.
Chosen by a group of food experts and local chefs, the seven featured dishes have been picked to showcase the true authentic flavor of Indonesia across the 7 Marriott hotels in Jakarta, Bali and Medan.
On August 16, 2016, to the Sailendra guests who dine and dressed with Indonesian traditional clothes such as batik or kebaya can join the Instagram contest by visiting the JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta Instagram page (@jwmarriottjkt), can get a chance to win a weekend stay and dining voucher at JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta. On August 17, 2016, JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta will be having “Spirit To Serve” initiative by inviting 10 children from Emmanuel Foundation to do some interesting activities along the Chefs.
In addition to the culinary offer, the event was also supported by SME Indonesia and the Dewan Kerajinan Nasional present traditional arts and crafts bazaar, located around the hotel lobby area, from Monday-Wednesday, 15-17 August 2016, from 10.00 until 18:00 Hrs.
The culinary journey will then continue to JW Marriott Hotel Medan from August 23 – 25. Next destination will be JW Marriott Hotel Surabaya, from August 27 – 29. The final course of the journey will take place in the island of Gods starting from Courtyard by Marriott Bali, Seminyak from August 30 – 31, Courtyard by Marriott Bali, Nusa Dua from September 2 – 3, and finally The Stones, Legian, Bali – A Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel from September 5 – 6.
The seven winning dishes will be served at JW Marriott’s Sailendra Restaurant from 15-17 August 2016, for IDR 400,000net per person, for lunch and dinner.
