Following last year’s success, this year Marriott International hotels in Jakarta is holding a celebration of Indonesia’s culinary wealth “INDONESIA CULINARY JOURNEY 2017” to coincide with the coming Indonesia’s 72nd Independence Day.
The event will highlight much beloved and in some cases, forgotten Nusantara flavors to the Jakarta’s crowd and will take place from 10 – 20 August 2017 at seven (7) participating Marriott International hotels: JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta, The Mayflower Executive Apartments, Jakarta, The Westin Jakarta, Keraton at the Plaza, Le Meridien Jakarta, The Hermitage and last but not least, Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel.
Each hotel, has prepared their best authentic Indonesian dish that best represents the hotel during this culinary promotion. The dish, that was created by the hotel’s Indonesian chefs, has gone through a careful selection process via an internal chef competition held at each participating hotel. Other than the taste and authenticity, the chefs are encouraged to highlight the dish’s sentimental or cultural values for themselves.
In contrast to the previous years, this year’s roadshow will only take a place in Jakarta and will be held simultaneously at each participating hotel. The event will officially kick off at JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta on 10 August 2017 and the authentic Seven (7) dishes from the Seven (7) different chefs during the promo will be available for dinner at Sailendra Restaurant, JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta, with price starting from IDR 338.000++ per person.
During the internal Chef competition at JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta, the panel of judges; Editor-in Chief of DetikFood.com, Odilia Winneke; Celebrity Chef and Restaurateur Chef Ragil and the hotel’s Executive Chef, Gyula Harangi; decided to select Chef Ridwan Maulana as champion who captivated the judges with his West Java family recipe: Nasi Tutug Oncom with Gepuk Sambal Kecombrang (fragrant steamed rice with fermented beans, beef, and ginger flower sambal) that is definitely a great representative of Indonesia’s culinary diversity. The dish will even be included in Sailendra’s mainstay menu in their a la carte and buffet selection.
