Jakarta, November 2015 – There were smiles all round as InterContinental Jakarta MidPlaza celebrated the official launch of the festive season with its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on 26th November 2015. This joyful event took place in the hotel’s Lobby Lounge.
The festive season is a time of goodwill and once again InterContinental Jakarta MidPlaza chose this moment to give back to those less fortunate within the community. Young children from a local orphanage were invited to attend the ceremony and experience the true spirit of the season.
A group of 40 little ones from Pondok Si Boncel were generously transported to the hotel to enjoy the festivities courtesy of Blue Bird Group. Located in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, Pondok Si Boncel is a Catholic charity facility operating under the Vincentius Association. It provides a safe and nurturing home environment for children under the age of 7 years.
The children along with media partners and the hotel’s Christian staff members gathered together to watch the lighting of the Christmas tree. This event opened by famous presenter in Indonesia, Melaney Ricardo. This was accompanied by a brief speech by the General Manager of InterContinental Jakarta MidPlaza, Mr. Hendrik Eising. He warmly welcomed everyone in attendance and spoke about the importance of helping those in need.
After Mr. Hendrik Eising pushing the button to turn on the Christmas Tree Lighting, next up was a heartfelt performance of traditional Christmas carols performed by the children’s choir from Studio Ratu Makin and also there is a magician act to entertain the guests. Popular Christian artists such as Momo Geisha and Nares then took to the stage for more songs and fun games.
The hotel also took this opportunity to launch its Christmas Giving Tree, which is an inspiring initiative symbolizing community care. The tree is decorated with a collection of cards featuring the photos and Christmas wishes of children from Pondok Si Boncel. Over the coming weeks, guests will be invited to choose a card and make an appropriate donation to ensure that every child receives a gift. Group photos were taken followed by a delicious dinner for everyone in the festive ambience of the Lobby Lounge.
