Last Week, Indonesia’s national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia started offering direct flight from Jakarta to Labuan Bajo, a previously small fishing village in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara. Air travelers previously had to transit in Bali before continuing their journeys to Labuan Bajo. Direct flights between Jakarta and Labuan Bajo are available every day of the week, except Saturdays, The Jakarta Globe reports. The flights are served by 96-seater Bombardier CRJ1000 NextGen aircraft. All seats are in economy class. If you haven’t already, this is definitely the time to explore Flores. After President Jokowi’s recent announcement that his government will step up the combat of illegal levies that plague the public service, the National Police, notoriously known as one of the most ‘pungli’ ridden government institutions in the country has also announced plans to launch e-Tilang in 2017, a smartphone app that enables violators to pay their fines online without having to appear in court, okezone reports. After 20 years of research conducted in 15 countries, a vaccine to prevent dengue is now available for people in countries across the world, including Indonesia. Produced by multinational pharmaceutical company Sanofi Pasteur, Dengvaxia is the first-ever dengue vaccine to be approved by WHO, and can be used by people aged between 9 and 16 years old.
