After it’s unveiling last February 2017, I have been eager to try on the brand new Heavenly Spa. The location itself, perched on the 50th floor of the hotel, which is currently the highest ever hotel in Jakarta, is one thing to not be missed.
On the day of my visit, the friendly front office staff greeted me and explained to me their range of treatments. The must try are the appropriately named signature packages: Hope, Dream, and Wish that each has its own different characteristics.
In need for a midday massage boost, I opted for the Wish package that promises “A delightful blend of our in-demand treatments to elevate your senses featuring Bali Coffee Scrub to gently exfoliate the skin and Aromatherapy Massage soothe the nerves and relieve muscle tensions.” After choosing my treatment, I was ushered to wait at their waiting lounge, where I was served a cool face towel and a welcome drink.
Dubbed as the dedicated ‘Wellness Floor’ together with the Gym and Indoor Swimming Pool, Heavenly Spa at The Westin Jakarta has 5 single massage rooms, 1 couple massage room, lounge and changing rooms completed with Jacuzzi and sauna.
The women changing room is equipped not only with sauna, shower, and changing facilities, but also a warm pool to soak up before or after your treatment, overlooking the Jakarta view which at first will take your breath away, until you realize nearly all rooms in the spa, has similar, if not better, view!
When you signed up to one of the treatments, you will be given Heavenly Spa’s signature spa changing kit that includes sandals, disposable underwear, and caped robe. The cape is meant to be a way for you to signal whether you may or may not be disturbed by others; a cape over your head means you want to be left completely alone.
After stepping in to the sauna for a couple of minutes, I soaked up for a few minutes in the pool to relax while marveling the view. Afterwards, my therapist came to pick me up to show the treatment room. Again, even after the umpteenth visit to this hotel, the view of Jakarta from such high elevation still dumbfounds me. During the treatment, you have the option to leave it out and let the bright light flood the room, or for the blinds to be drawn and enjoy a subdued light.
Before my 90 minutes treatment starts, my therapist, Ms. Minar, seated me in a chair where I was asked to choose three stones to hold with the insignia: hope, dream, and wish. As Ms. Minar gently cleans my feet, she asked me which area of my body that I want most pressure on or maybe to avoid, should there be any injuries or certain soreness.
After that, I was asked to lay down in probably the most comfortable spa bed I’ve laid on! The stone that I picked was placed below the face cradle, supposedly as a point of attention to my relaxing meditation (if I manage to stay up, that is..).
A soothing sound of the signature Heavenly Spa chime was chimed by Minar to mark the start of my treatment. A delightful smell of aromatherapy oil delivered the soothing body massage, starting from feet, all the way to my temple. After finishing the 30+ minutes massage, onward with the relaxing body scrubbing. Throughout the treatment, I was kept reminded by how something as simple as the softness of the towel and bed sheets your laying on, make a great difference on your spa experience.
After the treatment, I was given the option to either shower in the in-room bathroom, full with walking closet and shower, or to return to the changing room. If inclined, guests are also welcomed to use the supporting facilities, including the gym facilities and also the pool, but I was still in relaxing mode and opted to retreat at the lounge which also has an uninterrupted view of Jakarta’s skyline.
In the lounge, Ms. Minar came back to me with a tray full of healthy snacks such as cashew nuts, dark chocolate, raisins, and with ginger tea, and infused water. A great way to end a superbly relaxing treatment!
The spa treatment packages starts from Rp. 900,000 for Heavenly Spa’s signature package, and Rp. 550,000 for ‘a la carte’. You can also enjoy a special facial treatment that uses the exclusive Maria Galland skin care range.
