After facing much protests in numerous cities in Jakarta from local public transport drivers (especially angkot drivers & car rental services). The rapid-growing online ride-hailing industry may soon have to face significant curbs to its development. In a proposed revision to Transportation Ministerial Decree No. 32/2016, set to become effective on April 1, regional administrations will be able to set a minimum and maximum limit to fares to replace the current mechanism as well as put limits on the number of drivers and fleets, The Jakarta Post reports.
Next Tuesday, don’t forget that it is going to be a public holiday for all Indonesia to honor the Hindu people in celebrating their Day of Silence, or Nyepi. During this day, the entire island will reserve from all daily activities for self-reflection until the following day. To honor the day, Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport will also be temporarily shut down for 24 hours, beginning 6 am on Wednesday, although it will be on standby for emergencies.
