Dear Jakartans!
Last Thursday, Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) and Governor of Bank Indonesia Agus Martowardjojo officially released the multifunctional card ‘Jakarta One’,Kompas.com reports. This card is set to be the all-in-one card for Jakarta citizens, from paying for public services like parking, transportation to the distribution of business loans for small to medium enterprises. In the future, Ahok plans for the card to also be the ID card (KTP) where one’s information will also be stored. This card is one of the many steps that the Jakarta governor plans towards a cashless Jakarta, in the hope for a more transparent government and to weed out corruption.
This week, we enter the holy month of Ramadhan, where Muslims around the world undergo a month-long self-reflection and self-control, by abstaining abstain from any consumption of food, drink and other worldly pleasure from sunrise until sunset. Although for many, this is also a period of indulgence when it comes that time to break the fast and go wild with sweets and fast-breaking meal known as iftar.

We wish all our Muslim readers a peaceful and blessed Ramadan, and as this month is also the start of school holiday for man, we wish you and your family a great summer break as well!
