INDONESIA, JAKARTA – Le Meriden Jakarta held an event called A New Perspective on Lens CERTIA JAKARTA on Saturday, 4 June 2016. CERITA JAKARTA was a workshop photography that was combined with a historical story about Jakarta.
This event featured two well-known speakers who have vast experience in their field; Gunawan Wicaksono a Photojournalist from Tempo Media, and Ade Purnama a Historian from Sahabat Museum. Forty participants, from a local photographer community, hotel’s corporate clients & guests, media and bloggers, were invited to this event and to join a city tour bus with two destination stops in National Museum & Pasar Baru (Passer Baroe) to link the history of Jakarta with the topic of travel photography.
CERITA JAKARTA began with an opening from Mr. Kanit Sangmookda, General Manager of Le Meridien Jakarta. Mr. Kanit mentions that the new perspective event is aimed to bring the art to life for Le Meridien guests and the local community with an interactive and engaging program for a unique discovery, and CERITA JAKARTA was addressed to uncover the sight of the capital city of Indonesia from a different perspective. The event was then continued with a short presentation on the looks of Jakarta in 1900s and a short introduction about travel photography by Gunawan before the visit to National Museum and Pasar Baru.
Along the trip and tour, Ade Purnama shared the history about Jakarta in the past, and this was something new and interesting for the participants to know some facts about Jakarta such as; Jakarta once had a tram in the area of Kota Tua; Pasar Baru was an elite area where pedestrians in high fashion could be seen occupying the sidewalks, Jakarta grew with a very good urban planning by President Soekarno, how Sarinah, the first skyscraper in Jakarta, was transformed into a central business, and many more. The participants were also excited to snap some photos during the site visit at National Museum and Pasar Baru with some tips and sharing from Gunawan Wicaksono.
Back to the hotel, participants also got a chance to capture photos of Le Meridien Jakarta through a hotel tour. The event was then finished with the announcement of 3 best shots of Jakarta and 3 best shots of Le Meridien Jakarta from the photos that participants had taken during the event.
Lastly, Le Meridien Jakarta wishes that CERTIA JAKARTA not only brings a memorable experience to all the participants but also inspires them to continue to unlock a unique discovery in Jakarta.
