Dear Jakartans!
The Indonesian Government clarified that the June 1st Pancasila Commemoration public holiday was not going to start this year, after last week announcing Indonesians would have the day off to commemorate the birth of Pancasila, the nation’s official philosophical foundation. Confusion arose after Secretary of the Cabinet Pramono Anung last week announced plans by the president to make the day a national holiday, without qualifying it would not be introduced until next year at the earliest, TheJakarta Globe reports.
To report the seemingly endless problems that the city suffers, more and more Jakartans use the Government-initiated Qlue app. Launched in December 2014, Qlue encourages both citizens and officials to actively participate to report, respond and monitor the problems in the city, and now currently used by 200,000 Jakartans, with average of 5,000 reports each day. The app has been getting a lot of praise for its efficacy and responsiveness. We urge you try the app, available for Android and iOS phones.
A two-day tourism event called “Indonesian Weekend” held in Potters Fields Park, London, Great Britain, on May 28 to 29 was considered successful in promoting the Wonderful Indonesia brand, Antara News reports. Garuda Indonesia Airways also supported the event and offered special fares on certain routes, such as London-Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and Lombok.
