From Sabang to Merauke, there are distinguished and authentic cuisines that make up for the rich Indonesian culinary experience we all know today. Not only unique in taste, each cuisine has a specific cooking style and technique, using local ingredients that might be hard to find somewhere else outside their regions.
Celebrating the richness of Indonesian Culinary, Zen Tableware together with Aku Cinta Masakan Indonesian (ACMI) and William Wongso, Indonesia culinary expert, is holding a food plating competition for both professionals and amateur.
The competition aims to elevate the Indonesian culinary to be presentable at the international level. Afterall, a beautiful plating is often forgotten when it comes to Indonesian cuisine.
“In the culinary world, food plating technique is important. It is an art of arranging and serving food on top of a plate or other container by paying attention to overall position and composition to show a high level of art and flavor,” explained William Wongso.
Food plating is often demonstrated by professional chefs and celebrity chefs, but not too popular among home cooks. Through this competition, every cook is reminded of how important and how fun the food plating can be.
The competition is divided into two categories, professional and non-professional. At the first tage, participants can upload their creation to Facebook and Instagram from 31 October 2017 to 20 November 2017. The panel will choose 10 finalists from each category to compete in a live event on 9 December 2017, to win a total of 17,5 million rupiah, many vouchers, and Zen products.
Here are the rules participants have to follow:
1.Participants are Indonesia citizens aged 17 – 55 years old
2.Each participant must create two food plating creation, which is one main course and one dessert. For Instagram posting, post separately.
3.The dishes must be Indonesian cuisine, which includes carbs in a shape of mini tumpeng and several side dishes.
4.Everything on the plate must be edible
5.The main course must be balanced between carbs, protein, and vegetables.
6.Food plating size is for individual portion
7.Participants have to upload their original creation on their own Facebook and Instagram accounts, with a simple description and recipe.
8.Participants must follow IG account @Zentableware and like Zen Tableware facebook account.
9.Each post must have hashtags: #ZENplatingpro #ZENtableware for professional, and #ZENplatingnonpro #ZenTableware for non-professional.
