Thanks for having What’s New Jakarta, could you introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Aldo Situmorang, the General Manager of All Seasons Jakarta Thamrin, managed by Accor Group, joining from August 2015. Prior to my current position, I have served in Pullman Surabaya, assisting on their transition and hotel rebranding from Meritus hotel. But overall, my experience is mainly in luxury and upscale hotel, including Sheraton, JW Marriott, Shangri-La, and Kempinski. I’m so excited with all the good things that are happening here at all seasons Jakarta. We have an excellent team of employees that are completely focused with what they’re doing.
What got you in the hospitality industry?
First and foremost, you are always able to make someone’s day. Whether you’re a concierge, a kitchen porter behind the scene or even you’re in the management. Every day you go to work, you have the chance of making someone’s day a little better. Because this business is about people. This business is also very creative, versatile, and opens your door to the world.
To you personally, what are your hotel’s strong points?
We are located in the city center of Jakarta, within walking distance to premium shopping centers and popular points of interests. Our modern contemporary design with the great city skyline will also appeal to the urbanites. And due to our convenient location, our customers also don’t have to pay more for transportation, etc. And because we are part of the Accor family, with the Le Club loyalty member, members will also be able to get points and redeem it for free night stays, as well as other benefits.
In your management, what is your style of leadership?
I am the coaching leader; I love to help my employees identify their unique strengths and weaknesses and tie them to their personal and career aspirations. It is quite time consuming, but it has its benefits. I am the type to delegate varied tasks, and let my subordinate learn, even if it means that the results will take a while. This type of leadership works for teams members who are willing to accept feedbacks and make real changes.
What are your favorite places to visit in Jakarta?
I love shopping, especially the malls around here, as well as the more historic market such as Jalan Surabaya. I also love to find local authentic food, I love Dapur Baba. I also love a good Sundanese restaurant such as Ikan Bakar Cianjur, Pondok laguna.
Favorite things to do on the weekend?
I enjoy watching movies a lot! I do exercise, and love working out with a group. I am involved in a community that meets once every 2 weeks.
