Marvel Day Out is back this year to celebrate the creativity and love of Marvel Comics to all talented young people in Indonesia, especially Jakarta. The event was held at Anggrek Campus Bina Nusantara University, Jakarta on January 12, 2018 with a long-day seminar and talk show by influential peoples from Marvel and Disney: C.B. Cebulski (Editor in Chief of Marvel Comics), Allen Au-Yeung (Vice President Creative of The Walt Disney Greater China), and comic artists of Marvel from Indonesia.
Not only inspiring, the seminar was also filled with a lot of exciting contents. From sharing their amazing creations, fun experiences working with Marvel Comics, to some snippets of Marvel’s new characters, products, and upcoming movies. And one of the highlights of the event was when Cebulski stated that Marvel is looking forward to create Indonesia’s local hero.
“We would love to create a local hero, including Indonesia’s local hero. But of course, to tell the local story perfectly of that character, we have to hire local artist and writer with good storytelling skill in English. So, Marvel is open for talented young people here in Indonesia to share ideas and creations to actualize that plan. You can share your idea or creation through my Twitter account, @cbcebulski. I’m waiting!” said Cebulski.
Other than seminar, the event also displayed some interesting products and designs made by aspiring local artists.
