A Batik Air plane collided with a Transnusa Plane on the runway of Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, on Monday (4/4), resulting in fire in Batik Air’s left wing and damage to both planes, but fortunately no injury. Initially used specially for military, private and presidential purposes, Halim Perdana Kusuma has recently been utilized for commercial flights due to Soekarno Hatta’s over capacity. Aviation experts’ have argued that Halim Perdanakusuma airport’s limited runway and taxiway make it unfit for commercial flights.
Yesterday’s 3-in-1 suspension trial has caused a major increase in traffic in Sudirman area, some parts of South Jakarta and Central Jakarta adding commuter’s travel time to up to 1 hour than usual. The temporary suspension, which will last for 2 weeks, was decided following the many cases of children exploitation by the 3-in-1 ‘jockeys’.
