Dear Jakartans!
Last Monday (14/03) more than a thousand taxi and other public transportation drivers in Jakarta held a mass strike against transportation-based online application services like Uber and GrabTaxi. The drivers complained the apps had caused a significant decline in customer numbers for the traditional services, resulting in a loss in income. Following this strike, The Ministry of Communications has stated that it will summon the ride sharing companies to settle a new regulation.
This week, take part in the worldwide Earth Hour between 8.30PM and 9.30PMin all local time zones. Indonesia’s iconic Borobudur and Prambanan temples are set to be darkened during Earth Hour, the annual campaign to switch off all non-essential electric lights, and some business, hotels, and restaurants will also take part by combining it with creative events.
