Nyepi Public Holiday & Win a Dinner for Two at Warung Turki/Turkuaz

Dear Jakartans!

Are you ready to witness the solar eclipse tomorrow? Although it is most visible across parts of Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi, we in Jakarta can still witness a partial eclipse with a magnitude of 0.906 (1 for total eclipse). The eclipse will start at 6.19 AM, will reach its peak at 7.21 AM, and end at 08.31 AM, or a total of 2 hours and 11 minutes.

In Bali especially, the day will be particularly sublime as the eclipse will coincide with the Hindu Bali’s most important celebration, the Day of Silence. During this day, the entire island will reserve from all daily activities for self-reflection until the following day. To honor the day, Ngurah Rai Airport will also be temporarily shut down for 24 hours, beginning 6 am on Wednesday, although it will be on standby for emergencies. For all of our Hindu readers, we wish you a peaceful Nyepi day and Caka New Year 1938.

Don’t miss out the chance to win an exquisite lunch/dinner for two at Turkuaz/Warung Turki. Just answer this simple question for this week’s quiz: “Who is the founding father of Turkey?” Submit your answer to turwar.quiz@gmail.com and see if you’re the lucky winner to last week’s quiz here!
