Food, is one of Belgium’s greatest pride. Other than its world famous chocolate industry and their belgische frieten or belgian fries, Belgium is also famous and produces the majority of Europe’s cheese, meat, baked goods, and fresh produce.
Fully endorsed and attended by HRH Princess Astrid of Belgium’s, as part of the Belgian Economic Mission, the Belgian Food & Gastronomy was held at Pullman Pullman Thamrin Jakarta Indonesia Gallery, 14 March 2016 and featured a wealth of Belgium’s food culture.

In this event, food delegates of Belgium made their presentation alongside some of Belgium’s greatest chefs; Dennis Broeckx, Michelin Star Chef OF L’Epicerie du Circque, Antwerp, Stephen Vandeparre, Artisan Chocolatier & Ice Cream Maker, Nic Vanderbeeken, Executive Chef OF CasCades Restaurant, Viceroy Bali, and Eric Boschman, Sommelier. The visitors are provided with abundant samples of the country’s fresh produce such as apples, pears, and the belgian endive, that will soon be available in the Indonesian market.
This expo is part of the 5 intense days of Belgian Economic Mission to Indonesia where 301 officials and businessmen will discuss opportunities for future cooperation during several official meetings, sector specific business seminars and more than 500 B2B gatherings. For the 127 participating Belgian companies, this mission provides an excellent platform to reach out to one of Asia’s most promising countries.

After the meetings, Secretary of State, HE Pieter De Crem said he was confident that the mission will lead to fruitful synergies in the sectors of agro-food, transport, maritime affairs, cleantech, oil & gas, sports tech and smart cities. With 301 participants, the biggest Belgian mission ever to Indonesia is a landmark in the stronger growing ties between the two nations.
