Minister of National Development Planning Officially Open Smart Indonesia Initiatives Conference at Indonesia Future City & REI Mega Expo on Monday, 18 September 2017. The conference invites some notable keynote speakers; Prof. Dr. Bambang P.S. Brodjonegoro, Eddy Satriya, and Ir. Rezeki Peranhinangin to discuss smart city concept in Indonesia.

In the discussion, the head of BAPPENAS states that smart city concept at the end needs to improve the people’s well-beings. The government should not be confused with the term smart city and only focused on the advancement of technology information. More than that, smart city concept should be about how to improve the productivity of public services so the city can accommodate its people in economic development. Smart city should be about smart economy, smart human capital, smart governance, smart mobility, and smart living.

Brodjonegoro also mentions the government’s efforts to push e-governance, where public services can be accessed by everyone. One of the program is Public Private Partnership (PPP), where private business can collaborate together with the government to fullfill the people needs.

Smart Indonesia Initiatives Conference is an important event where professionals and decision-makers can share insights on the future city we all dreamt of. The conference will take place until Wednesday, 20 September 2017.
