We are lucky to be one of the firsts to step in to the New Sultan Private Room at Turkuaz, an authentic Turki restaurant located in Gunawarman. The space is a thoughtful creation that designed to the detail to be the most exclusive private room in Jakarta.
Everything you see upon entering the room are custom made! On the wall, also hanging pieces of glorious history from the empire that can inspire conversations during your meal. And one masterpiece you cannot miss is their 300 years old Ottoman carpet. Painted in royal purple and inspired by the blue mosque, guests are invited to truly experience the exclusive way of Ottoman dining in this room.
Authentic Ottoman foods are served individually on our plate. We tried a list of delicious menu, cooked with only the best ingredients from all around the world. To start, a Mezze Platter consist of artichokes cooked in olive oil with selected vegetables; cucumber, tomatoes and walnuts with organic extra virgin Turkish olive oil and pomegranate molasses; chickpeas and tahini with organic extra virgin Turkish olive oil; and olive oil fried cauliflower, potatoes and zucchinis with lemon juice, garlic and chili flakes. Each of simple dish tastes complicated and intriguing. We ate it one by one, in clockwise.
Served as an appetizer, there is also warm wood oven baked in pastry spinach, Turkish white cheese and herbs. And Mini Thin wood oven dough with seasoned minced lamb for a stronger taste.
For main dish, we are served with mouthwatering Kuzu Adana ve Dana Sis Kebab, a village style marinated minced lamb and Triple A grade beef cubes with Turkish village style kebab bread and rice. And the star of the meal, Incikli Hunkar Begendi, a 14 hours wood oven baked sultan lamb shank with wood charcoal grilled aubergine puree. The meat has become so soft we don’t need to use knife to enjoy them.
As the dessert, a super sweet Fistikli Baklava tempts our palate. When eating this traditional dish, we should flip the little square so the dripping sugar meet our upper palate directly, while the crunchy part cracked on the tongue.
Last but not least, is a softer choice of dessert, Keskul, an Ottoman style pure almond pudding. Incredibly there are ingredients from 7 different countries in this small glass of sweetness.
All the food served on your plate are made from scratch. Vegetarian version of the menu are available upon request as well.
Inside the The New Sultan Room, the interiors truly compliment the food. They are both inspiring and ready to give an experience that non to compare. Here, located strategically in Jakarta, you can share important moments, or even a simple one, and make it luxurious.
