At last week’s school assembly, AIS Kemang celebrated wonderful results in this year’s ICAS testing. ICAS is an independent, skills-based assessment program that recognises and rewards student achievement. Over one million students sit the tests from over 6,300 schools in Australia and New Zealand annually. In addition, students from over 20 countries including Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, South Africa and the USA participate in ICAS each year.
This year, 40 AIS students from Kemang received certificates ranging from Merit to High Distinction. In addition, 4 students were awarded medals. AIS students received two gold medals for achieving the highest score in the country for English, a silver as the second highest score in the country also for English and a bronze for third place in Mathematics at their year level.
In addition AIS Kemang was one of three schools awarded the prestigious Best Primary School, acknowledging the overall high performance of the school.
These results come after excellent results in the Australian Mathematics Competition. This year, 32 students from Year 3-6 took part in the Australian Mathematics Competition. We are pleased to announce that we received 1 High Distinction, 3 Distinctions, 6 Credits and 11 Proficiency awards.
Last weekend two students also represented AIS Kemang in the Merry Riana Indonesian Public Speaking Competition final. These two students progressed through a number of rounds and did a fantastic job in speaking for 90 seconds on the importance of public speaking in Bahasa Indonesian in front of 75 other students. This is indicative of the high quality of the Indonesian language program offered at AIS, Kemang.
