Careers@Hilton Live Showcases the Diverse and Rewarding Career Opportunities in Hospitality for Job Seekers Around the World
Jakarta, Indonesia – May 28, 2016 – DoubleTree by Hilton Jakarta- Diponegoro has taken part in Careers@Hilton Live: Youth in Hospitality Month, Hilton Worldwide’s annual global career event showcasing the many opportunities available in the hospitality industry for young people. Throughout the month of May, Hilton Worldwide hotels and corporate offices around the globe are hosting hundreds of events to inform those looking for employment about the exciting and diverse career opportunities in the hospitality industry. This initiative is a part of Hilton Worldwide’s Open Doors commitment, which aims to positively impact at least one million young people by 2019 and better prepare them to reach their full potential.
On May 28 2016, DoubleTree by Hilton Jakarta hosted an event to share the experience of working in the hospitality industry to the next generation. Starting with the selection of potential students from several universities, the hotel created an exciting job shadow program with every Head of Department (HOD) for 1 week. Within this week, all students were attached with an HOD and received the experience of working in the real environment that they may not had in their university. For those who did not have a chance to participate in this program, the hotel held a seminar about career in the hospitality industry as well as showcasing activities in every department. Every invited student could have a direct experience in every booth such as learning how to make towel art in Housekeeping booth, trying the blind testing coffee in F&B booth, etc. This exciting event ended with a mini graduation of job shadowing program.
Markus Kaliss – General Manager, said, “We are happy to be part of this annual global career initiative of Hilton. This year, we are not only giving interested students a preview about working in the hospitality industry by showcasing our departmental booth and holding a seminar for the students but also giving a chance to selected students from several universities to get the excitement of working in the real hospitality industry. We have done the job shadow program for a week and finally, the mini graduation was held on Saturday, 28 May 2016. We hope all participants did have a real experience by joined this program and also be able to contribute to give them a clear vision about work life after they have done their studies at the university, especially in hospitality industry”
Careers@Hilton Live: Youth in Hospitality events are a unique opportunity for Hilton Worldwide Team Members to inspire job seekers about careers in the hospitality industry, and to support them by providing guidance on the skills that are vital to succeed in the workplace and beyond. Participants have been joining Hilton Worldwide Team Members for events ranging from résumé clinics to networking, as well as presentations from Team Members on their career paths in hospitality.
