Hula-Hula: Pink Flamingo, Ukulele, and Healthy Meals

Visioning a tropical island in Kemang area, Hula – Hula is going with the flow with the emerging trend of a healthy lifestyle and finally opened its first store! But the twist is, high-quality ingredients are served in this place in rich flavor and affordable price dishes!

Hula_7Hula-Hula is trying to replace the boring and expensive notion of healthy lifestyle, into something more relaxing, fun, and friendly. It serves low calories black rice and oatmeal creations. A spoonful of black rice bran contains more antioxidants found in a spoonful of blueberries, but with much less sugar, and more fibers and vitamins. While oatmeal will help your body attain more fibers.

Hula_6The tropically themed interior is not less interesting despite the small size. With flat seating spots and cushions for ‘lesehan’, it will feel like you are away from the hectic stressful Jakarta. Don’t miss your chance to play the ukulele, take a lot of instagramable selfie in front of their pink flamingo mural and other color pops as well.

Hula_8

Hula_3The savory and sweet menu is only IDR 39k – 41k. Some the favorite savory menus are Black Tuna Tartar and Gyutan Black Rice Bowl. For the sweet tooth, Monkey Madness Oatmeal Fruit Bowl is recommended. Hula-Hula also serves creative drinks such as ice putu latte, a combination of black coffee, pandan, coconut sugar and soy milk!

Visit Hula-Hula for a short vacay and healthy intakes!

Standing hand in hand….

Greetings Jakartans!

I am writing to you with the sad news of the Manchester bombing that have shocked not only England and Europe but all over the world. A music concert, where things should be fun and entertaining, the extremists have taken their actions to a whole another level, hurting the young and restless. This we cannot stand!, and I believe all over the world, together hand in hand, our thoughts and prayers are with those who are affected and victims of the bombing. There is nothing more barbaric than the act of killing and hurting another human being.

Meanwhile, in Jakarta, as we gear up for the holy month of Ramadan, let this be a time of reflection, a time of silence, to remember our sins, what we have done to one another, and what can be done to make things better. Check out hotels break fasting promotion package throughout the month on our website, and make your decision, while still making your decision of where to take your family during the Eid-al-Fitr holiday that is due upon us soon.

Gastromaquia Jakarta Brings Spanish Cuisine Straight from Madrid

Bringing Spanish foods straight from Madrid, Gastromaquia Jakarta is an excellent culinary destination, located strategically in the city’s most sought after foodies area.

Stepping inside the restaurant, Gastromaquia welcomed its guests with a homey atmosphere. The all-white design is a favorite sanctuary for many. While foods from their kitchen are modern and innovative, they still embodied what true Spanish cuisine is like; playful in flavor, complicated despite the simple looks, and always fresh. Many of their menus are also suitable for sharing.

Gastromaquia_11One of the popular ones is Paella de Marisco, a huge portion of seafood paella with pearl lobster. Using only fresh seasonal seafood, this paella is definitely a winner. The fresh seafood is mixed together with saffron and rice, a well as tomato, onion, garlic, and red pepper.

Gastromaquia_6Calamares Crujentes or crispy calamari is another seafood dish you cannot miss. One whole fresh calamari is fried until crispy and can be enjoyed with a smooth aioli dip.

Gastromaquia_1If you are in the mood for something exotic, Gastromaquia also has something to offer. How about Goat Cheese? Some may love it and some don’t. At the restaurant, they prepared Goat Cheese by pan frying them, and then served it with bread, basil oil, and honey vinaigrette.

Gastromaquia_4Another unusual ingredient is iberico ham, a Spanish traditional. To make it, one needs more than half a year! It is actually a leg part of a specific kind of pork that only eats nuts in Spain, called black pork. The meat then cured in salt for a long time, dried, and aged for 6 months to create a unique taste. At the restaurant, it is served with rockets and sherry vinegar dressing to create a refreshing salad.

Gastromaquia_12Recently, the team at Gastromaquia has created a new menu, Flan de Hongos. The menu uses porcini flan, foie grass, and infused chive oil. It creates a smooth texture that will melt in your mouth. This delicious flan is only one from many creative creations you can try at the restaurant.

Lastly, something you cannot go out without trying is their Sangria! This wine drink is simply fresh, perfect for hot days!

Gastromaquia sangrilaExcellent foods on the table won’t be complete without a good company. Bring your friends and loved ones to experience Spanish cuisine at Gastromaquia!

Jakarta New Dining: KAUM Jakarta

After their two outlets in Hong Kong and Bali, Potato Head is launching their third outlet of Kaum, this time in a modern space in Menteng, Jakarta.

Kaum, which means “clan” or “tribe” in Bahasa Indonesia, pays tribute to the more than 600 ethnic groups that make up Indonesia. The culinary collective behind Kaum, Potato Head Family CEO Ronald Akili, Kaum Brand Director Lisa Virgiano and Executive Chef Antoine Audran, explored the vast islands of Indonesia and worked closely with remote tribal communities and independent local producers to develop Kaum’s menu and discover Indonesia’s rare and almost-forgotten ingredients and cooking techniques.

Kaum Food Spread

Kaum was first introduced in Hong Kong in May 2016, and has been included in the prestigious “Michelin Guide Hong Kong & Macau 2017”. Late last year, their second restaurant opened in Seminyak, sharing space with Potato Head Beach Club.

The Jakarta Kaum incorporates signature dishes from Kaum Hong Kong and Kaum Bali, highlighting the archipelago’s rich and varied culinary traditions and cooking methods from Aceh to Maluku, and also features special dishes, available only at the flagship outlet in Jakarta.
