InterContinental Jakarta MidPlaza Honours The True Meaning Of The Festive Season

Jakarta, 29 November 2016 – InterContinental Jakarta MidPlaza celebrated the official launch of the festive season with its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on 29th November 2016. There were smiles all round as this joyful event took place in the hotel’s elegant Lobby Lounge.

The festive season is a time of goodwill and once again InterContinental Jakarta MidPlaza chose this moment to give back to those less fortunate within the community. Young children from a local orphanage were invited to attend the ceremony and experience the true spirit of the season.

Blue Bird Group generously transported drop off and pick up 30 little ones safely to and from the hotel and Pondok Si Boncel in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta. Operating under the banner of Vincentius Association, this charity facility provides a nurturing home environment for underprivileged children under the age of 6 years. Pondok Si Boncel assumes full responsibility for the physical and spiritual wellbeing of youngsters in need.

The event was opened by fun-loving presenter Marcella Lumowa, who is known for her role in the popular reality show Bukan Empat Mata. She set the mood as the children along with media partners, celebrity guests and hotel staff members gathered for this inspiring occasion.

This year the children were entertained with lots of fun activities such a decorating their own Christmas treats. There was also a heartfelt performance of traditional Christmas carols performed by the children’s choir from Studio Ratu Makin and storytelling by Tania Kathryne from Rumah Dongeng Pelangi that will share a tale about the wisdom of Christmas. Local Jakarta artists Nina Yunken and Meivin Malelak then took to the stage for more uplifting songs and games.

Finally, the General Manager of InterContinental Jakarta MidPlaza, Mr. Hendrik Eising, pushed a button to bring the Christmas Tree to life in a dazzling display of lights. This was followed by group photos and a delicious dinner for everyone served in the festive ambience of the Lobby Lounge.

The Park Lane Hotel Jakarta launched the ceremony of the hotel’s Beary Christmas Tree as the tallest Christmas tree consists of one thousand teddy bear. The Beary Christmas tree is wrapped by one thousand Teddy bear in Batik Semar and The Park Lane shirt proudly designed and created by Indonesian local product. Beautified by 39 forsythia flowers, with the height of 9 meter and 2.65 meter diameter, this magical Christmas tree was built in 7 days as a result of solid team work from all departments related. These teddy bears will be available for charity sale. These teddy bears will be sold for Rp. 100.000, – for 1 (one) teddy bear and IDR 150.000, – for 2 (two) teddy bears. All the funds raised will proceeds to YAI (Yayasan Anyo Indonesia) as a charity donation. The Beary Christmas tree also designed with an Angel Number. One thousand teddy bear placed in Christmas tree is divided by 9 meter (height), produce a unique number. It’s called an Angel numbers “1111”, which means it encourages us to look to new beginnings, new opportunities with a positive way, optimistic attitude, initiative, and motivation creation. 2016 AIS Art Festival

Every year for 20 years already, AIS Pejaten has been holding several art and cultural events to encourage children exploring their talent and sharing their works. On the first day of December this year, 2016 AIS Arts Festival had prepared movie screening, student art exhibition, battle of the rock bands, and music concert to fill the festival.

Interestingly, this year the students have created many artworks that inspired by poverty in Jakarta and the world, as long as global issues such as refugee, war, and drugs. The works involved several unique techniques, using different creative medias. Showing that they are really care about others, part of the proceeds from the events will go to Cancer Care at Hospital Moewardi in Solar foundation.

Students were able to spend their time together and have fun with a lot of activities in this internal event. But more importantly, support and learn from each other.
